Longest-serving presidents of the US

The United States is the oldest continuous democracy in the world, having seen some of the most respected presidents. Let’s take a look at the longest-serving presidents in the history of the US and their significant contributions. 

FDR held the presidency for an unprecedented four terms (1933–1945). He led the US through the Great Depression and World War 2. After his four terms, the US Constitution was amended to limit presidents to two terms.

Jefferson served two terms (1801–1809) as the third president of the US. He played a key role in important events for the country, including the Louisiana Purchase.

Madison served two terms (1809–1817) and is known as the "Father of the Constitution". He led the country through the War of 1812 between the US and Great Britain.

Obama served two terms (2009-2017) and is known for passing the Affordable Care Act, leading the country through the Great Recession and overseeing the execution of Osama Bin Laden.
