Apple’s most awaited annual event, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, commenced on Monday, June 9, at Apple Park, Cupertino.
In a keynote by Alan Dye, the tech giant unveiled its latest version of its operating system, iOS 26, along with launching a new design language called Liquid Glass.
While the iPhone 17 is yet to be launched, many other major announcements were made at the event. Let’s take a look at the most significant ones.
Apple has introduced a redesigned user interface Liquid Glass of iOS 26 across devices including iPhones, iPads and Macs, offering an immersive experience.
Liquid Glass offers translucent app icons, buttons, media controls and other interfaces that behave like glass and create depth, along with photo-based lock screens.
For the first time, Apple has unveiled a universal design system for all its devices. This means that all Apple devices will now have the same design and feel.
Apple has finally rebranded the names of its operating systems, matching them to the calendar. The beta version of the new iOS 26 will be released in July this year.
Not just the iOS, but even the device version numbers will now be unified. So, Apple is introducing iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, and so on.
Users can now capture their screen and ask questions about it, like finding a bag you saw on your friend’s Facebook, giving Apple Intelligence smarter screen understanding.
Apple watches will have an AI-based voice coach, known as Workout Buddy, offering fitness insights during workouts like workout summaries.
Apple has launched a new gaming app, acting as a centralised platform just for gaming across Apple devices. With features like ‘play together’, it is expected to be a game-changer.
AirPods will have new features like tapping for photos from a distance and recording with noise-cancellation for ‘studio-quality’ audio.
