Diwali, or Deepawali, is the most popular Hindu festival. It symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
This 5 or 6-day festival is celebrated during the Hindu month of Ashwin (September-October) or Kartika (October-November).

Chhoti Diwali, or Naraka Chaturdashi, is celebrated to honour Lord Krishna’s victory against the demon Narakasura. This year, both Chhoti Diwali and Diwali fall on the same day.
This is the main day of the Diwali festival when Lakshmi Puja is held and the day is celebrated with lighting diyas and fireworks.
This is celebrated one day after Diwali to worship the Govardhan Parvat, which Lord Krishna fitted to rescue the people of Mathura from Lord Indra.
This is the last day of the Diwali festivities, celebrating the sacred relationship between brothers and sisters.
