D Gukesh’s path to World Chess Championship

At the age of just 18 years, India’s D Gukesh became the youngest World Chess Champion.

Gukesh prevailed over Ding Liren in a 14-game World Chess Championship match in Singapore.

Gukesh won three games in the 14-match grand finale and took home ₹5 crore as the winning prize.

Gukesh's victory marks a historic moment for Indian chess, as he joins legends like Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen.

Humbled by his win, Gukesh said, “This does not mean I am the best player in the world; obviously, that’s Magnus.”
