PMAY was launched in 2015, with the motto of "Housing for All". The project focuses on the redevelopment of slums, credit-linked subsidies, and more.
The vision of PMAY-Urban 2.0 is to ensure that every citizen in India gets safe, secure and affordable housing with a primary focus on economically weaker sections (EWS).
-Subsidised home loans up to ₹1.80 lakh under CLSS.
-Focus on women's ownership of houses.
-Inclusive of EWS, LIG, MIG-I, and MIG-II categories.
The government plans an investment of ₹10 lakh crore to address the housing needs of 1 crore families. The implementation involves state government and private organisations for faster execution.
So far, the scheme has benefitted about 25 lakh beneficiaries of different segments.
-EWS: Annual income upto ₹3 lakh.
-LIG: Income from ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh
-MIG-I: Income from ₹6 lakh to ₹12 lakh
-MIG-II: Income from ₹12 lakh to 18 lakh
