The wizard of Omaha, Warren Buffett, is known for his investing strategies worldwide. His lessons are followed by millions in the hope of building wealth.

Outside of finance, the veteran investor has lived a rich life. Here are some non-finance lessons from Buffett to live a rich life.

Buffett believes in finding joy in the little things, like drinking coke, but in moderation. For him, life is about the daily pleasures of work, relationships, and habits.

Little things in life

“If you want your marriage to last, marry someone with low expectations," Buffett said at a summit in 2015. For him, marriage is about realism and acceptance.

Finding the right partner

Buffett remained a close friend of Charlie Munger till the very end, believing that one of the greatest things in life is interacting with people who you love, trust and respect.

Find your people

Buffett enjoys reading endlessly. He advises people to read everything under the sun—newspapers, books, reports, etc. ‘It builds up, like compound interest,’ he says.

Read, read and read

Buffett still lives in the same house he bought in 1958. For him, the real luxury in life is the small routines and simple things, and most importantly, love.

Simple living

Buffett is well-known for holding cash when everyone rushed to buy, especially during surging markets. He believes in avoiding herd mentality and following one’s core principles.

Follow your gut

Buffett once remarked that he was never enthusiastic about physical fitness. He believed in ‘preserving himself’, which contributed to his physical stability.
