Humans have driven many beautiful and unique animals to extinction. Let’s see 6 incredible animals that are nowhere to be found on Earth anymore. 

This was a flightless bird endemic (native and restricted) to Mauritius. It is presumed that the bird became flightless due to the abundance of food and lack of predators but later became extinct in around 1600 due to the Dutch soldiers’ activities. 

Dodo Bird

Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger due to its tiger-like dark stripes, was a carnivorous marsupial native to Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea. It was driven to extinction due to hunting and habitat destruction in the 1900s.

The Passenger Pigeon, also known as the Wild Pigeon, was native to North America. Around 3 to 5 billion of these birds existed in America before the European settlement drove them to extinction.

This is also known as the Chinese River Dolphin and was only found in China’s Yangtze. Although not officially extinct, it hasn’t been spotted since 2002 and is said to be the first dolphin species to become extinct due to human activity. 

Baiji White Dolphin

Discovered in 1741 by George Stellers, this huge herbivorous animal was driven to extinction less than 30 years after it was found, in 1768. It was found only around the Commander Islands in the Bering Sea between Alaska and Russia.

Steller's Sea Cow

This flightless bird also known as the garefowl became extinct in 1844 due to excessive hunting. This penguin-like bird was found in the North Atlantic Ocean.
