It would be fair to assume that the planet closest to the sun, Mercury, is the hottest. Well, it’s not. Venus is the hottest planet because of its thick atmosphere.
For more than 45 years now, astronomers have been suggesting that it rains diamonds on Uranus and Neptune due to high pressure and temperature.
Some rocks have been found on Earth that are known to be from Mars. It is believed that these rocks reached Earth due to an asteroid or a volcanic explosion.
The Earth is called a Goldilocks planet because the distance at which it orbits the sun is just right—not too far, not too close—for water to remain liquid.
Many people don’t know that the sun is actually a star—a luminous spheroid of plasma held together by gravity.
