Here are 10 Indian athletes who came close to winning a medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, but luck wasn’t on their side.
Vinesh is an Indian wrestling champion who came close to winning a Gold medal in the Paris Olympics 2024 but was later disqualified for being merely 100 gm overweight for the 50 kg category.
Dahiya is another Indian wrestler who suffered a heartbreak at the Paris Games. She was leading 6-1 in the quarter-finals in the 68 kg wrestling category but lost 10-8 due to a dislocated shoulder and fractured finger.
Sen is an Indian badminton player and a former World Junior No. 1 who lost the chance to win a bronze medal at the Games this year against Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia.
While Bhaker won two bronze medals for India and made the entire nation proud, she finished fourth in the 25m air rifle shooting event final and lost the chance to win a third medal at the Games.
Arjun is an Indian sport shooter who missed the bronze medal by just 1.4 points in the 10m air rifle shooting event match against Croatia’s shooter Miran Maricic.

Chanu, an Indian weightlifter, lost to the bronze medalist by one kilogram. She lifted 199 kgs in the match while Thailand’s Surodchana Khambao won the bronze medal by lifting 200 kgs.
