As of July 2026, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) can officially be used in ten countries for transactions. Here is the list.
Bhutan
Year of introduction: 2021
It was the first country to accept UPI payments by enabling QR payments across many merchants.
United Arab Emirates
Year of introduction: 2021
Indian tourists and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can make seamless, cross-border payments at over 60,000 merchant outlets.
Singapore
Year of introduction: 2023
UPI is available with Singapore’s PayNow system, enabling instant cross-border transfers.
Mauritius
Year of introduction: 2024
In collaboration with NPCI, UPI and RuPay cards are accepted in the country.
Nepal
Year of introduction: 2024
UPI has been integrated with Nepal’s payment ecosystem to strengthen cross-border financial collaboration with India.
France
Year of introduction: 2024
It is the first European country to accept UPI, which can be used for retail purchases. It is expected to be expanded in the near future.
Sri Lanka
Year of introduction: 2024
UPI is enabled for tourists, allowing them to travel and make payments with convenience.
Qatar
Year of introduction: 2025
UPI services are available for Indian travellers and merchant payments.
Cambodia
Year of introduction: 2026
The first phase, allowing Indian travellers to pay at over 4.5 million merchants, was launched in June. A two-way payment corridor is planned in the next phase.
Greece
Year of introduction: 2026
It has become the second European country to accept UPI. The Eurobank-NIPL partnership will allow eligible customers to transfer money instantly.
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of NPCI, continues to collaborate with foreign banks, payment networks and governments to increase global acceptance of UPI.
