The Income Tax Department recently received the government's nod to launch the PAN 2.0 project.
This project aims to bring all PAN and TAN-related services into a single unified portal.
Under PAN 2.0, applicants will be able to update/correct their details free of cost, like the existing system.
But they will have to pay extra for physical copies of PAN cards.
Fees for physical PAN card (domestic): For deliveries across India, applicants will have to pay a fee of ₹50.
Fees for physical PAN card (international): For deliveries out of India, applicants will have to pay ₹15 + postage charges.
However, there will be no fees for e-PANs. Applicants can get free e-PANs on their email ids.
The Income Tax Department says there will be no extra financial burden on individual PAN holders under PAN 2.0.
Also, existing PAN cards held by citizens will continue to be valid.
