Transferring PF amounts from past employers to the current EPF account is necessary for an employee.
However, not all EPF account holders are required to apply for transfer after switching jobs.
EPFO now provides the automatic PF amount transfer facility after switching jobs.
To be eligible for this facility, an employee’s UAN should be seeded and fully KYC-compliant.
An auto trigger for PF transfer is generated when the employee switches jobs and EPFO receives his first PF contribution.
Soon after the auto trigger is generated, the employee’s old PF amount gets transferred into his new PF member ID.
However, an employee can choose to stop the automatic transfer.
Employees whose PF amount from past employment is not transferred to their current accounts, need to apply for a transfer online.
The EPF account helps salaried employees in saving money for life after retirement.
