Most brokerage stocks closed in the green on Thursday, April 25, reflecting the positive trend in the broader market. Benchmark indices, NIFTY and SENSEX, extended gains for the 5th straight day as heavy buying was witnessed across sectors in the afternoon session. The rally in key indices was aided by the gain in PSU Bank stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex settled 486.5 points, or 0.65%, higher at 74,339.44, while the NSE NIFTY climbed 167.95 points, or 0.74%, to close at 22,570.35.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services stood out as the top performer among brokerage firms, with its stock surging nearly 5% on the NSE. Following closely, SMC Global Securities secured the second spot, with shares ending over 2% higher. ICICI Securities also experienced an uptick, witnessing a gain of 1.11% at close.
However, two of the previous session’s top performers, Geojit Financial Services and 5Paisa Capital, ended the day in the red. In particular, 5Paisa Capital suffered a loss exceeding 6%. Dolat Algotech was the third stock to close the session with losses.
