Tata Sons' listed portfolio soars 3x to ₹26 lakh crore under N Chandrasekaran

Since February 2017, the total market capitalisation of the Tata Sons group has increased from 8.9 lakh crore to 26 lakh crore as of 11 August, 2026. Among the major compounders, Titan and Trent have delivered a sharp jump in market capitalisation, led by robust profitability growth.

The Tata group stocks are buzzing in trend after the Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekharan announced his resignation from the post of Chairman, effective February 2027, not seeking any further appointment. The development rattled the investor confidence around key tata group stocks like TCS, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Tata Steel, Tata Consumers, Titan, Indian Hotels, Tata Chemicals and other fell as much as 5% on Wednesday afternoon. The successor will be announced soon for smoother transition.

While announcing his resignation, N Chandrasekaran, said, “I have completed 40 years of professional life at the Tata Group. I am grateful for the immensely satisfying opportunity to contribute to this venerable institution. Leading Tata Sons over a past decade has been a great honor and profound responsibility.”

Chandrasekaran joined Tata Consultancy Services in 1987 and became the CEO in 2009. After that he wore the cap of Chairmanship of Tata Sons in 2017.
