5 largest Taiwanese companies by market cap

The Taiwanese stock exchange recently overtook India to become the world's fifth-largest stock market by market capitalisation.

Much of the rally in the Taiwanese stock market has been driven by semiconductor and electronics stocks.  Here are the five biggest Taiwanese companies by market capitalisation (M cap).

M cap: $85.71 billion
It's a leading provider of independent semiconductor packaging and test manufacturing services.

5. ASE Group 

M cap: $117.16 billion 
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., also known as Foxconn, is a multinational electronics contract manufacturer.

4. Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry)

M cap: $197.52 billion
It's an electronics manufacturing firm known for its direct current (DC) industrial and computer fans and for switching power supplies.

3. Delta Electronics

M cap: $223.95 billion
It's the world’s fifth-largest fabless semiconductor company. It's a factory-less manufacturer of mostly ARM architecture-based microcontrollers.

2. MediaTek

M cap: $2.19 trillion
Besides being the world's largest dedicated semiconductor foundry, it is also the world’s sixth most valuable company by market capitalisation.
