It’s not surprising to know that India and China have the most populated cities globally, considering they’re the two most populated nations in the world.
Surprisingly, the most populated city in the world is from neither of these countries. It’s Japan’s Tokyo with a population of 37.1 million as of 2024.
The next on the list is India’s Delhi with a population of 33.8 million.
China’s Shanghai, Bangladesh’s Dhaka, and Brazil’s Sao Paulo take the next three places with populations of 29.8 million, 23.9 million, and 22.8 million, respectively.
The next three spots are taken by Egypt’s Cairo, Mexico’s Mexico City, and China’s Beijing with populations of 22.6 million, 22.5 million, and 22.1 million, respectively.
Taking the 9th position is India’s Mumbai with a population of 21.6 million.
Japan’s Osaka takes the 10th place with a population of 18.9 million.
