World's most powerful passports

The Henley Passport Index has released its 2024 ranking of the most powerful passports in the world.

What is the Henley Passport Index?
The index is a ranking based on the number of destinations passport holders can access without a prior visa, reflecting the global mobility each passport offers.

India ranks 82nd globally, allowing visa-free travel to 58 countries. India’s ranking has dropped by 2 places as compared to 2023.

The destinations that Indians can access without a visa include Thailand, Malaysia, Maldives, Indonesia, Cook Islands, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Qatar, Sri Lanka and many more. 

Singapore took the top spot this year, offering its citizens visa-free entry to 195 countries.

France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Japan follow closely, with visa-free access to 192 destinations each.

Finland, Ireland, South Korea, Austria, Sweden, Luxembourg and the Netherlands hold the third spot, offering access to 191 destinations.

The UK, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland share the fourth spot. Australia and Portugal share fifth place, while the United States has slipped to eighth, allowing visa-free access to 186 countries.

Pakistan's passport is ranked 100th, giving its holders access to 33 countries, while Afghanistan occupies the last place with visa-free entry to just 26 destinations.
