Tesla unveils Cybercab and Robovan

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, recently unveiled several new tech and space innovations at the ‘We, Robot’ event held at the Warner Bros Studios in California.

Musk introduced the automotive company’s long-awaited Cybercab, a driverless and fully autonomous taxi.

The Robotaxi will only be able to accommodate two people at a time and will have no pedals or steering wheel.

Musk also unveiled the ‘Robovan,’ which can reportedly carry 20 persons at a time, although very few details were disclosed about it.

According to a report, the production of the Cybercab will begin in 2026, and it will be priced under $30,000.

The report said running the Cybercab will cost $0.2/mile. The Robovan’s operating cost will be even cheaper, at $0.05/mile.

Musk claimed that these autonomous vehicles could be both safer and cheaper than the traditional vehicles driven by humans.

Musk also displayed prototypes of Tesla’s humanoid robot ‘Optimus’ at the event.

The robots would be able to perform routine tasks like watering plants, making drinks, and clicking photos. They are expected to be priced between $20,000 and $30,000.

He also announced the successful landing of SpaceX’s latest rocket using a giant metal arm. This supports SpaceX’s mission to construct reusable rockets.
