Simone Biles is an American artistic gymnast. She holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by a US gymnast.
Born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, Biles grew up in Texas with her grandparents.
She developed an interest in gymnastics at the young age of six during a field trip to Bannon’s Gymnastix and continued to gain training there for the next 11 years.
With her 11 Olympic medals, she is tied with Czech gymnast Věra Čáslavská as the second-most decorated female Olympic gymnast.
She was also the first gymnast to win six world all-around titles. Out of her unprecedented 30 World Championship medals, 23 are gold.
Biles won 4 gold and 1 bronze medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in the 2020 Tokyo Games and has already won 3 gold and 1 silver medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She was also awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022.
Biles is married to American footballer Jonathan Owens.
