Here is a list of some of the ministers who have held the office of Finance Minister of India for the longest time!

Tenure: 1991-96 (5 years)
With his LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation, and Globalisation) reforms in 1991, he changed the trajectory of India’s growth.

7. Dr. Manmohan Singh

Tenure: 2019-present (over 5 years)
She is the current Finance Minister and the first to present seven consecutive budgets, including the July 2024 interim budget.

6. Nirmala Sitharaman

Tenure: 1950-56 (6 years)
He was the third FM of an Independent India and the first Indian to serve as the Governor of RBI.
 

5. CD Deshmukh

Tenure: 1998-04 (6 years)
During his term as the FM he introduced the fiscal responsibility law.
