      Hey Shubham,

For MCX, there is no alternative other than printing and couriering forms even if you have an existing account.

However if you do have an Aadhaar card and it has your latest email/phone tied to it – you can open your MCX account paperless at new.upstox.com.

      Have you tried that yet?

I’m KYC compliant and have been investing in mutual funds for a year now. I’d like to open an account with Upstox for purely investment purposes (NSE cash segment + demat account). I have a PAN card but don’t have an Aadhar card. Can I still open an account totally online, in a completely paperless manner? What’s the quickest way around in this case?

    • Shrini Viswanath

      Hi R Nathan,

An Aadhaar card is the only way you can go paperless. Aadhaar allows us to verify your identity and proof of residence in one go without the need of you submitting any of those. With Aadhaar, any proofs that you do need to submit (such as a signature copy) – can be uploaded directly.

If you do not have an Aadhaar card, we can open your account with the traditional route. You don’t have to do an in person verification since you are PAN KYC verified.

We have pickup teams located in many major cities in India who can help collect the needed documents and open your account quickly. And it’s all free. So don’t worry about having to open an account without an Aadhaar 🙂

      Hope that helps.

I am an NRI , have PAN card. Can i open NRO linked DEMAT and trading account online ?

    Rao Nadella

    • Shrini Viswanath

      Hi Mr Rao,

We do offer NRI accounts. As of the moment, it’s not possible to open an NRI account online. This is because there a couple regulatory requirements that prevent the customer from going completely paperless. Namely, the point that a PIS account needs to be opened for an NRI customer. Additionally, many NRIs do not have an Aadhaar card with them.

Can you send us an email at nri@upstox.com? We’ll get you started as quick as possible.

I have applied for account opening online and received 4 documents in email. I have been asked to take a printout of all those 100 pages and sign each of them and courier it to Mumbai. How’s that paperless?
